Pumpaneer ;)

I know, you must be wondering..what the hell is this name?!! Well, my creativity is quite limited and I showed it by naming this recipe !

What I’m talking about is a pumpkin, paneer(cottage cheese) in yogurt gravy..! I just tried it out today and I must say, it was really yummmm….!

This is a simple recipe..all you need is the right balance of ingredients and time to cook !

You’ll need :

1 small cup chopped onion

1 tomato chopped

5 cloves

1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste

2 sticks of cinnamon

3 pods of cardamom

1/2 tsp of sha jeera

1 bay leaf

1 cup of plain yogurt  / dahi

1 cup of equal sized , cut yellow pumpkin

1cup of paneer cubes (equal to the quantity of pumpkin)

Chilli powder

Salt

Turmeric

Olive Oil

4 green chillies – slit

Pav bhaji masala / garam masala

Coriander / Daniya powder

Cumin/Jeera powder

Preparation :

1. In a deep bottomed pan, add about 4-5 tsps of oil. Once it attains the right temparature, add shajeera, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf and onions.

2. Let the onions turn translucent. You can add salt to speed up the cooking of onions. Add the pumpkin, chilli powder, turmeric, daniya powder, jeera powder, tomatoes.

3. Saute for a minute. Pour in a glass of water and let the pumpkin cook.

4. Once the pumpkin is boiled and the water is reduced, add yogurt/dahi mixed with garam masala/pav bhaji masala.

5. Add paneer cubes, let it cook till the required consistency is achieved.

6. Garnish with coriander / deep fried onions (optional) and serve hot !
